Once Manchester United came calling, I suspect Wilfried Zaha had very little difficulty in swapping Selhurst Park for Old Trafford.

The lure of playing for the Premier League and European giants does not come along too often, particularly for a player in the early stages of their career.

The 20-year-old winger has huge potential having already made his international debut for England against Sweden backin November. His performances in the Championship for Crystal Palace have been eye-catching and have earned him many admirers.

In Sir Alex Ferguson, Zaha has the ideal tutor to guide and develop him. Ferguson is renowned for being the father figure to the youngsters in his squad and will ensure all the possible support and guidance is given to Zaha. Senior players in the squad, such as Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Rio Ferdinand, will also offer their own advice and experience - Zaha will be learning from the best.

Modern day football is littered with temptations for young players who have plenty of spare time coupled with very substantial wages. Zaha will have to adapt to this and the scrutiny from the media and supporters that this move will undoubtedly bring. Expectations will be high considering the large transfer fee paid. However, United are fully equipped for this and the young starlet will be in good hands.

Zaha will return to Palace for the remainder of the season and must continue to produce high class performances. Sir Alex and United will expect no less.

One thing is for sure, Zaha has given himself the best possible chance to succeed as a professional footballer but only time will tell whether it will happen. A lot of hard work lies ahead, making this move the first step on what many people hope will be a long and successful club and international career.
