Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas believes that Leeds United deserved the victory in their 2-1 win over the north London club in the FA Cup fourth round yesterday.
Luke Varney put the Championship side ahead early in the first half, before Ross McCormack doubled the Yorkshire club's lead just after the break.
The Portuguese boss told the club's official website: "We had a good 15 minutes at the beginning when we could have perhaps done a little better with our opportunities.
"We always had to chase the game at 1-0 and then 2-0 made it even more difficult."
Spurs did manage to grab a goal back, when Clint Dempsey headed home, but Jon Obika could not get his shot away late on, as Lee Peltier denied him with a last-ditch tackle.
Villas-Boas added: "The players did extremely well to come back into the game at 2-1, but we couldn't create as many opportunities as we normally do."
In a game in which Tottenham had the majority of possession and well as three times more shots on target, they were unable to break down the Whites' back four, with many producing heroics to keep their side in front.
Villas-Boas said: "They got into our faces and made it difficult for us, so credit for them for being so competitive.
"We didn't have a lot of space, maybe more in the first half and less in the second because they gained inspiration from going 2-0 up."
Leeds United's win sees them rewarded with a trip to the Etihad Stadium against the Premier League champions Manchester City, while Tottenham will now be hoping to bounce back against Norwich City in the league on Wednesday.
