In the wonderful world of football, it’s amazing to think that a Pro Bowl or ‘all-star’ game doesn’t exist.

The Premier League was built largely on the riches of Sky, and there is little doubt that both organisations would be able to benefit financially from a match that sees the fans pick the players that participate.

Of course, there are plenty of potential pitfalls. Managers do not want there players getting involved in what they would see as a meaningless friendly, whilst the World Cup and European Championships mean it would be difficult to squeeze the game in after a long, hard season.

That said, there has been support in the past, with Rio Ferdinand a high-profile player happy to support the idea. Indeed, the England centre back believed the match should replace the Community Shield.

And, if it did, then the Premier League Pro Bowl would certainly pull in a huge global audience, with the division’s best players becoming either teammates or enemies once again.

Whilst, in American Football, division splits teams – NFC and AFC – the Premier League would have to use specific geography in their attempt to separate the sides.

Applying that equation to the English top flight this season, the added bonus would be that Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion – separated by just a few miles – would represent different teams.

As the GiveMeFootball imagination runs wild, allow us to pick two potential teams for a showpiece match at the start of next season, based on form so far this term…

The great thing about the 'Pro Bowl' and other all-star games in America is that supporters get to pick the players. If you disagree with someone's selection, you can make your own.

So, who would be in your North v South teams if the votes were cast today? Remember, West Brom and Norwich City represent the North, Aston Villa and Swansea City the South. Let us know your teams below…
