Tottenham manager interest Andre Villas-Boas has dismissed suggestions he is looking to sign Gary Hooper during the January transfer window, but has labelled the Celtic striker a 'massive talent'.

Villas-Boas was reported to have been in attendance at Celtic Park last week to watch Hooper in action against Dundee United, in an encounter which saw the 24-year-old net twice.

With Emmanuel Adebayor at the Africa Cup of Nations, Jermain Defoe is the only senior striker available to Spurs, and Villas-Boas has been tipped to reinforce before the transfer deadline.

The Portuguese, however, says that - although he is a fan of Hooper - Spurs are not chasing the former Scunthorpe forward, and already have enough options available at White Hart Lane.

"I was never in Scotland seeing a player," Villas-Boas said, as reported by talkSPORT.

"He has massive talent but never mentioned to us. We have enough cover. Good news on Defoe to have him back."

Spurs, meanwhile, have also been linked with a late move for Brazilian striker Leandro Damiao, despite Villas-Boas' continual protestations that the club are not chasing reinforcements.

According to the Daily Star, Spurs are preparing to bid £20 million for Damiao before the imminent transfer deadline.
