Arsenal midfield target Urby Emanuelson is set to join Fulham on loan.
The Daily Star claimed Arsene Wenger was keen to bring the 26-year-old Dutchman to north London earlier in the month, with the Gunners chief eager to bolster his ranks in the centre of the pitch.
However, the player himself has revealed that he’s about to join the Cottagers on a short-term deal, and is coming to the capital for a medical today (Wednesday) before completing the switch.
"I will finish the season with a loan deal. I have worked in a very good way with him (Martin Jol) at Ajax and am happy as he gives me the chance,” he told De Telegraaf.
"Martin has a lot of confidence in me and that's what I need right now. At AC Milan I ended up on the bench from nowhere and I was really shocked with that. The previous two months were hard.
"At my age it is important to play week in, week out."
Emanuelson is a product of the famous Ajax academy, graduating to the first team at the Amsterdam Arena in 2004.
But, after seven years as a professional wwith the Godenzonen, he left for Serie ‘A’, joining AC Milan in a cut-price €1.7million deal.
Unable to hold down a regular position at the San Siro, Emanuelson is now poised to continue his career in the Premier League, but it appears to be with Fulham rather than at the Emirates Stadium with Arsenal.
