Roma have denied that Paris Saint-Germain made an offer for midfielder Daniele de Rossi.

Reports emerged this morning that the Ligue 1 club were hoping to land the Italian international before the close of the transfer window, and were willing to offer Marco Verratti as part of the deal.

“There has never been anything between PSG and Roma with regards to De Rossi’s situation,” said Roma director Walter Sabatini on Radio Montecarlo.

“There are no meetings planned for him or for Verratti.”

Manchester City are long-term admirers of De Rossi, and were interested in signing him last summer.

The 29-year-old held a press conference to confirm his commitment to Roma in August - but since then his relationship boss Zdenek Zeman and future at Roma have been called into question.

Manager Roberto Mancini is a keen admirer of De Rossi, although last month the Citizens had been told to forget about making another bid during the January window.

"We have absolutely no intention of selling De Rossi. We have not had any contact from anyone and we have not received any offers," club president James Pallotta said in December. "It is just speculation."
