Chelsea and Tottenham are reportedly set to miss out on the signing of Willian on transfer deadline day, with Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala ready to seal a huge deal for the Brazilian midfielder.
According to the ITV Sport, Anzhi initially had an offer of £29 million for Willian rejected Shakhtar Donetsk rejected, but the Ukrainian club have since had a change of heart.
Willian is now expected to complete his transfer to Russia before the close of the transfer window, extinguishing any hope Chelsea or Tottenham had of securing a last minute deal.
The 24-year-old has been linked with Chelsea and Tottenham for some time, with the interest of the Stamford Bridge club initially coming during Andre Villas-Boas' tenure in west London.
But, with Villas-Boas now at White Hart Lane, Spurs have been credited with interest in the Brazil international, who displayed his talents to an English audience with two goals against Chelsea in the group stages of the Champions League.
Despite missing out on Willian, however, Spurs could reportedly make the acquisition of a striker before the transfer window closes on Thursday.
