Patrice Evra is a player who recently came under fire for a string of poor performances.

However the French international has proved all his doubters wrong and has been in exceptional form this season, especially in an attacking sense.

Originally signed from Monaco in 2006 for a fee of around £5.5m, Evra has since established himself as the first choice left-back for both club and country, and is considered to be one of the best left-backs in the Premier League.

Although Evra has been consistent throughout his United career, his current form has seen him regularly involved in United's goals and Evra himself has even got himself on the scoresheet.

Having scored seven goals in his seven-year spell with United so far, remarkably four of them have come this season as the French international has added a new dimension to his game.

When Alexander Buttner arrived last summer, many questioned whether or not Evra would maintain his starting place in the squad. However since then Evra has stepped it up a gear and his performances of late have been impressive.

He has further emphasised his attacking qualities by tallying up five assists so far this season, including setting up Wayne Rooney as he scored the decisive second goal against Southampton on Wednesday night, with Man United running out 2-1 winners.

In general, it's well known that Evra gives 100% on the pitch and is totally dedicated to Manchester United. He has often captained the team when Nemanja Vidic has been absent and at 31 years of age, he may still have a few years at the top yet.
