Carrick withdrawn from England squad

Published 4 Comments

Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has pulled out of the England squad for Wednesday's friendly against Brazil, the Football Association has confirmed.

A statement on the FA's official website said Carrick is suffering from a hip injury and will not join Roy Hodgson's squad ahead of the match at Wembley. Carrick is the second player to pull out of the squad after Tottenham announced striker Jermain Defoe will miss the fixture with an ankle problem.

The FA added that no replacements have been called up for either player at this time.
