Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly waiting for a call from Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich to ask him to return to the club and replace Rafael Benitez.
According to The Sun, Mourinho is ready to leave Real Madrid and come back to Chelsea following an absence of almost five years, but Abramovich must act fast or risk missing out on the Portuguese.
Mourinho, who is expected to part company with Real Madrid in the summer, is reported to have already received a number of lucrative offers, but would be willing to ignore them all if Chelsea formalised their interest.
The 50-year-old is coming under increasing pressure at the Santiago Bernabeu after Real Madrid lost again on Saturday - their sixth league defeat of the campaign - following an own goal from Cristiano Ronaldo.
But under as much, if not more, pressure than Mourinho is interim Chelsea manager Benitez, whose reputation with supporters takes a greater battering with every passing week.
Chelsea slumped to defeat at the weekend against Newcastle to reinforce the feeling of fans that the Spaniard was the wrong man to succeed Roberto di Matteo at Stamford Bridge.
And, after missing out on Pep Guardiola to Bayern Munich, replacing Benitez with Mourinho at the end of the season - or even earlier - would surely be a dream come true for Blues.
