Mario Balotelli marked his return to Serie ‘A’ with a match-winning brace for new club AC Milan against Udinese.

The Italian maverick – signed from Manchester City for £19million in the final days of the January transfer window – had already shown his potential with a goal in the 10-0 friendly win against Darfo Boario on Thursday.

And, in his first taste of competitive action since leaving the Premier League, the 22-year-old certainly didn’t disappoint at the San Siro.

Balotelli opened the scoring on 25 minutes, smashing home a left-foot volley, but Giampiero Pinze pulled the visitors level in the second period and the match looked destined for a draw.

However, a controversial penalty in injury-time gave Balotelli the chance to win it, after the referee judged that Stephan El Shaarawy had been brought down in the box.

Cool as you like, the former Inter Milan star made no mistake from the spot, sending Daniele Padelli the wrong way.
