Highly-rated midfielder Adam Maher has admitted he will leave AZ Alkmaar at the end of the season - but not to join Arsenal. The 19-year-old Dutch international was reportedly a target for Arsene Wenger, but Maher insists he wants his next move to be to a club in Holland.

According to reports, Manchester City have secured a buy-back option as part of the £20m sale of Mario Balotelli. The defending Premier League champions sold the Italy striker last month, but reportedly insisted on several clauses - including a first right of refusal on future transfers.

Millwill boss Kenny Jackett wants Tottenham striker Harry Kane to help his side's playoff push. The Spurs teenager spent four months at the New Den last season, scoring nine goals in 27 appearances.

Wayne Rooney has leapt to the defence of Danny Welbeck, amid criticism that the Manchester United forward doesn't score enough goals. Welbeck has just one goal to his name this term, but Rooney thinks that's because his teammate has been asked to play out wide for much of this season.

Xavi Hernandez faces a race against time to be fit for Barcelona's Champions League last-16 tie against AC Milan. The Spain star picked up a hamstring problem against Valencia on Sunday, and could be out for up to 15 days.

Petr Cech will miss the Czech Republic's friendly against Turkey on Wednesday with a broken finger. The Chelsea keeper suffered the break to his little finger against Newcastle last weekend, but played on until the end of the match.
