Video: Cristiano Ronaldo heckled by "Messi" chant in Portugal
Cristiano Ronaldo heckled by fan singing Lionel Messi chant on arrival at Portuguese training camp
Cristiano Ronaldo must be used to hearing Lionel Messi's name, as the Real Madrid star continues to be overshadowed by his Barcelona rival in Spain's Primera Liga.
But, it will still have come as a surprise to the forward, to hear the Argentinian's name chanted upon his arrival at Portugal's training camp back in his homeland, ahead of tomorrow's international friendly with Ecuador.
That's exactly what happened, though, as Ronaldo was heckled by a disgruntled fan, angry that he had been snubbed in his attempts to get an autograph from the Portuguese captain.
Ronaldo looked bemused by the "Messi, Messi" chants from the bystander, although he still stopped to sign a football and shake a hand before walking past photographers with a sigh.
When later asked about the incident, AS reports that Ronaldo admitted he had become accustomed to such episodes, saying: "It's a situation that happened in all parts of the world and I have to be prepared to deal with it.
"I have played 10 years with the Portugal national team, [and] an isolated comment will not tarnish my commitment.
"It is an honour for me to represent my country, wear this shirt and when I am here I feel as if I am with my family."
Ronaldo, who celebrates his 28th birthday today, is set to start against Ecuador tomorrow, despite suffering from a muscle strain he picked up in Real Madrid's 1-0 defeat to Granada on Saturday.
