Neymar: England rely too much on Rooney

Brazil will have the opportunity to size up England ahead of the World Cup next year when the five-time winners visit Wembley on Wednesday, but Neymar does not rank Roy Hodgson's side among their rivals for next year's competition.

Luis Felipe Scolari's men are in town for a glamour friendly organised as part of the Football Association's 150th anniversary celebrations, and face an England side boasting the likes of Wayne Rooney and Steven Gerrard.

Neymar, though, does not rate England's chances in Brazil in 2014, and believes they need to stop relying on Rooney if they are to be genuine contenders for World Cup glory.

"England are a good team with very good players - but I don't look at them as one of our main rivals for the World Cup," Neymar told the Daily Mail.

"They have the players to do well - but do I think they have the same quality as Spain and Argentina? No.

"I think maybe they rely on Wayne Rooney.

"At Brazil we have many players who can win the game. The same with Argentina if Messi is not having a great game they still have Aguero and Tevez with Spain if Iniesta is having a bad game they have Xavi and Villa. Once you look past Rooney you don't see an obvious player who can win them

a game."

Neymar, who turned 21 on Tuesday, could potentially become a teammate of Rooney's at Manchester United in the future, as the young forward continues to be linked with a transfer to Europe.

Manchester United were credited with a bid for Neymar on the final day of the summer transfer window last year, although the Santos star appears more likely to join Lionel Messi at Barcelona.
