England cricketer Kevin Pietersen has paid tribute to Chelsea defender Ashley Cole ahead of his 100th international cap.

The former Nottinghamshire, Hampshire and Surrey batsman might seem like an unusual fan of the left-back, but Pietersen is a well known supporter of the Blues, and a regular visitor to Stamford Bridge.

And, if all goes to plan, Cole will make it a century of appearances against Brazil at Wembley in tonight’s international friendly. It’s an achievement that the IPL star recognises is worthy of some credit.

He wrote on his official Facebook page: “Congrats on the big 100 caps Ashley Cole. Play well buddy!”

It’s not the first time Pietersen has made his feelings known on a Chelsea player, with the 32-year-old wading into the Frank Lampard contract saga at the end of December.

“Lamps shows who the boss is today… YOU DARE, Roman! #gottakeepthebest,” he wrote on Twitter at the time.

However, his words appear to have gone unheard at Stamford Bridge, with Lampard yet to be offered a new deal in west London.

The cricketer will hope that his comments on Cole are more affective tonight.
