Ajax teenager Viktor Fischer is set to end the reported interest of Manchester United be signing a new contract with the Dutch champions, with a deal likely to be finalised soon.
The 18-year-old has scored eight goals in 18 appearances in all competitions during his maiden season in the Ajax first-team and, along with Manchester United, has also been linked with Chelsea and Inter Milan.
Manchester United have been linked with Fischer since his time with the Denmark under-17s, for who he scored 20 times in only 30 matches before moving up to the under-19 side.
Reports in January claimed Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was in the running to sign the Danish striker after he rejected the offer of an improved deal, but the chances of bringing Fischer to Old Trafford now appear to have been dashed.
According to the player himself, talks are ongoing with Ajax regarding committing his future to the Amsterdam Arena club, with Fischer expecting everything to be signed relatively soon.
"The negotiations are going quite smoothly and I do expect everything to be sorted out soon," he told Danish website Sporten.dk.
"I don't know when it will happen, but I'm sure it will be over very soon."
