Arsenal are being linked with a big-money move for Montenegro international Stevan Jovetic.
The Daily Telegraph claims Arsene Wenger is ‘seriously considering’ a move for the Fiorentina playmaker, with a club-record £20million fee mooted as the figure needed to bring the player to the Emirates Stadium.
That figure eclipses the £15million paid to sign Andrei Arshavin, but the paper goes on to claim that Arsenal have the necessary funds available to land the 23-year-old.
Etienne Capoue is also on the Gunners’ radar, according to the report, with Wenger looking to strengthen at right back amidst uncertainty over the future of Bacary Sagna.
As for Jovetic, his signature is wanted by a number of clubs, with Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini also tracking the player.
Indeed, The Daily Express claimed earlier in the week that the Citizens had targeted the former Partizan Belgrade starlet as part of the ‘rebuilding process’ at the Etihad Stadium following Mario Balotelli’s departure.
“It is hard to find a replacement for Balotelli in January. Jovetic really interest us, he would be a good fit,” the Manchester City manager told Forza Italian Football at the end of the transfer window.
Were Arsenal to make the first move for the player at the end of the season, it could spark a Premier League transfer tussle.
