Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba was given an rapturous reception following his arrival in Turkey, having completed a move to Galatasaray last month.
Drogba's arrival had been temporarily delayed due to his involvement in the Africa Cup Of Nations, but when he did eventually touch down in Istanbul, the 34-year-old striker was greeted by thousands of adoring fans.
The reception was similar to the one that ex-Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder received when he signed for the Turkish giants last month.
Following his arrival, Drogba proclaimed his satisfaction at signing for a club in the last 16 of the Champions League.
Sitting alongside coach Fatih Terim, the forward told Galatasaray TV: "I've met with the coach, but it’s not the first time we’ve met. He just remembered me from when Cote d’Ivoire national team played against Turkey.
"I’m really happy to be here for me as it’s a new challenge, a new part of my life. I will do my best to be successful for the club."
Drogba joined Galatasaray from Shanghai Shenhua, who according to the players agent, were not paying the Champions League winner.
Drogba will be paid €15,000 per appearance at Galatasaray, on top of a €4m paid to him up front, €2m for this season and €4m in the 2013-14 campaign, according to reports.
He will wear the number 12 jersey at Galatasaray.
