Video: 40-yard free-kick in vain as Paris St-Germain march on

Published 9 Comments

Paris St-Germain moved six points clear of the chasing pack atop the Ligue 1 table with a 3-1 victory over Bastia on Friday night.

But the battling Corsican club made their mark on the Parc des Princes despite the defeat – as Wahbi Khazri’s stunning 40-yard free-kick briefly made the Parisan club sweat for the points.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored from the spot after Jeremy Menez put PSG one-up, before Khazri, a 22-year-old Tunisian international, pulled one back in the 83rd minute.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side weathered a few dodgy moments before Ezequiel Lavezzi made the points safe in the 89th minute.

Khazri’s free-kick was a stunner though, from fully 40 yards out and off to the left-hand side of the pitch.

The Bastia number 10 caught everyone off guard, including PSG keeper Salvatore Sirigu – whipping the ball into the top corner with fantastic dip and swerve.

Check out Khazri’s effort in the video above, and thanks to 101greatgoals.com for finding it first. What do you think – one of the best free-kicks of the season?
