Lionel Messi’s record of scoring in consecutive games continued on Sunday as Barcelona smashed six past Getafe at Camp Nou.

Messi has now found the net in 13 consecutive appearances for the Catalan club now and was one of six different goalscorers in the 6-1 victory.

The victory maintained Tito Vilanova’s side lead at the top of La Liga and they remain 16 points ahead of fierce rivals Real Madrid, who thrashed Sevilla 4-1 on Saturday thanks to a Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick.

Messi bagged the second goal of the day to give Barcelona a 2-0 lead at half time.

Alexis Sanchez had opened the scoring after an incredible through-ball by Andres Iniesta.

Getafe scored a late consolation to make it 4-1, only for Barca to then go and score another two in injury-time.
