Video: Red card fury after unusual defensive tactic

Published 21 Comments

Some defenders will go to almost any lengths in order to get the edge over their opponent as they tussle for the ball, as famously demonstrated by former Wimbledon hardman Vinnie Jones when he was pictured in a compromising position with Paul Gascoigne.

Perhaps more bizarre, and equally as unsavoury, was an incident which took place over the weekend in Argentina, after a player was sent off for violent conduct having taken exception to an opponent fingering his backside.

Pablo Lugüercio of Arsenal de Sarandi, while jostling for the ball with Union de Sante Fe's Emanuel Britez, felt the force of the his rivals fingers on his posterior, and responded by clobbering him.

Lugüercio was then given his marching orders by the referee, and left the pitch in tears.
