Real Madrid have made a €56 million bid for Napoli striker Edinson Cavani, according to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo.

The Uruguayan international has established himself as one of the deadliest strikers in Europe, and has 25 goal in 26 appearances for Napoli so far this term.

Both Manchester City and Chelsea have been linked with a move for the 25-year-old in recent months and could make a move for him in the summer - however Madrid appear to be in the driving seat.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid have made a €56 million offer for Cavani which is likely to be accepted by Napoli, despite the presence of a €63 million buy-out clause in the striker's contract.

Reports over the weekend suggest Madrid are not only targeting a move for Cavani in the summer and are confident of sealing the deal despite continued interest from Chelsea and Manchester City, but are also gunning for two other high profile arrivals.

City's David Silva and Tottenham's Gareth Bale are on Madrid's radar according to the Sunday People.

Should Chelsea and Manchester City miss out on Cavani they are likely to focus their efforts on landing Radamel Falcao from Atletico Madrid.

Falcao is likely to leave Atletico in the summer, with Chelsea believed to be leading the race for the Colombian. The Stamford Bridge-based club are reportedly ready to allow on-loan 'keeper Thibault Courtois to remain at the Vicente Calderon permanently in order to make the deal happen.
