Andre Villas-Boas could do little other than lavish praise on Gareth Bale after the Tottenham winger's latest starring display, and now hopes the lure of playing with the Welsh winger will attract other stars to White Hart Lane.
Bale was on target twice in the 2-1 weekend victory, the first of which was a sumptuous free-kick, and has scored Tottenham's last four goals in the Premier League.
The 23-year-old has now scored 15 times in all competitions for Spurs this season - a tally three greater than his previously most prolific campaign.
Bale's string of fine performances have led to comparisons with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, and prompted renewed talk of a transfer to Real Madrid for Bale.
With Spurs looking on course for a return to the Champions League the focus will turn to recruiting players of the top calibre in the summer transfer window, and retaining the services of Bale could prove vital in doing so.
"It’s a great question,” Villas-Boas told a press conference when asked if keeping Bale will attract other players.
"People also move when they find other players are able to promote their own potential. Gareth has that effect."
