Everton full-back Leighton Baines will reportedly push for a summer transfer if the Toffees fail to qualify for the Champions League this season, as Manchester United continue to be linked with the England international.
According to Goal.com, Baines is ready to tell the Goodison Park hierarchy of his desire to leave the club if they finish outside of the top four, but Everton would want £20 million were he to be sold.
Manchester United were reported to have been interested in signing Baines as a long-term replacement for Patrice Evra during the summer transfer window of last year, but Sir Alex Ferguson was deterred by a £15 million valuation.
A greater price-tag 12 months on is unlikely to appeal to the Manchester United manager, although a willingness to sell by Everton may tempt Ferguson to make a formal approach.
Manchester United are still frequently linked with Baines, and reports over the weekend claiming a renewed move for the 28-year-old defender could come at the end of the season.
Ferguson is reported to be the market for a successor to Evra, who is a reported target for mega-rich Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain.
