Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is winning his battle to be fit for the Champions League last 16 first leg against Bayern Munich.

The England star was a doubt for next Tuesday’s clash against the Bundesliga leaders, having limped off against Sunderland at the weekend following a challenge with Alfred N’Diaye.

However, Goal.com understands the player has been given the ‘all clear’ to train fully this week, and could even feature in the FA Cup clash against Blackburn Rovers at the Emirates Stadium this weekend.

The website also claims that defender Laurent Koscielny has recovered from a minor calf strain that kept him out of the clash against the Black Cats, and could also be fit to face the Championship side in the fifth round of the competition.

That leaves captain Thomas Vermaelen as the biggest injury concern for manager Arsene Wenger, with the Belgian facing a race against time to be fit for the Gunners.

With Nacho Monreal cup-tied and Kieran Gibbs injured, the skipper had been ear-marked to play at left-back for Arsenal in the mouthwatering European tie.
