Arsenal goalkeeper still searching for best form
Wojciech Szczesny still wants to improve despite a superb performance in Arsenal's victory over Sunderland
Arsenal goalkeeper, Wojciech Szczesny, has insisted that he is still yet to find his best form despite putting on a superb show during his side's 1-0 victory away at Sunderland on Saturday.
The Polish international has admitted that he has still got to work harder to find his top form and that to do so, he has to push himself harder in a bid to reach the higher levels.
Szczesny pulled off several world-class saves during Arsenal's 1-0 win at the weekend, and played a crucial role between the sticks as Sunderland were pushed for an equaliser.
After Carl Jenkinson saw red in the 60th minute, it was very much back-to-the-walls for Arsenal, but Szczesny held firm as his side held on for three points.
The young goalkeeper came to the rescue several times denying Steven Fletcher on three occasions and a last-minute strike from Adam Johnson, however he insists that he must work harder, especially when it comes to dealing with high-balls and crosses.
"I made a couple of saves that helped the team win the game and I'm happy for that but there is a lot of work still to be done," Szczesny said in the Daily Mirror.
"I still struggled a little bit on crosses so I would have been happier with a faultless performance."
Szczesny is now confident that the team can push on for a top four finish and he believes the Sunderland victory proves the side has the character to battle.
"We showed people we have what it takes to be successful and showed character and desire to get the result," he added.
Arsenal welcome Blackburn Rovers to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, as they look to make it into the FA Cup sixth round.
