Gary Neville & Paul Scholes | Manchester United
The prize for the most memorable footballing snog of the modern era has to go to former Manchester United defender-turned Sky Sports pundit, Gary Neville, and his much more shy and retiring Old Trafford team-mate, Paul Scholes.
In April 2010, the 38-year-old midfielder scored a last-minute winner against local rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, to clinch a vital three points for Sir Alex Ferguson's side.
Scholes's strike prompted a spontaneous full-on kiss from Neville at the full-time whistle - an image that was essentially a sign of undying gratitude, but has also been described as one of the most harrowing images now etched onto the retinas of football fans watching that day.
Steven Gerrard & Jamie Carragher | Liverpool
When Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher recently announced he will retire at the end of the current campaign, it didn't take long for club captain Steven Gerrard to reveal that he had pleaded with his team-mate to reconsider.
The reality is that these two Anfield icons have shared many a fine memory over the past three decades - League Cup wins, FA Cups, UEFA Cups and one Champions League trophy - with both playing instrumental roles in the success achieved on Merseyside in recent years.
Gerrard refers to Carragher as 'the club captain without the armband' and the duo always share hotel rooms on away days. He will be sorely missed.
Frank Lampard & John Terry | Chelsea
Two of Chelsea's oldest love-birds, are at risk of being forced apart this summer. With Frank Lampard's contract set to expire at the end of the season, could the unthinkable be about to happen, and Roman Abramovich ask captain John Terry to sustain a long-distance relationship?
'Lamps' and 'JT' have been pretty much inseparable - for club and for country - ever since the former arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2001. The duo have been the bedrock behind Chelsea's success of recent years, and even the most hardened, and unemotional fans will be saddened to see them split.
Mousa Dembele & Clint Dempsey | Tottenham Hotspur
An unusual Premier League love-in pairing, yes. And, one that certainly has little foundation to be built upon - other than the fact that the USA international Clint Dempsey followed former Fulham team-mate Mousa Dembele to White Hart Lane.
The Belgian's amicable £15million move to Tottenham in the summer went through with a few days of the transfer window to spare. But, the same cannot be said for Dempsey.
It had been widely reported that the forward - who had gone on strike at Craven Cottage in a bid to push through a move - was going to move to Liverpool. However, at the final hour, he too was snapped up by Spurs, after their move for Porto's Joao Moutinho fell through.
Andre Villas-Boas has been pleased with the way both players have settled during their first season in north London. And the transition has undoubtedly been made easier by the fact Dempsey and Dembele are able to rely on an old friend in their new surroundings.
And last, but not least...
Olivier Giroud | Arsenal
Riding solo, the summer signing from Montpellier might not be Robin van Persie, but ooh la la he's a looker! The French forward has made an impressive start to his Arsenal career too, with 11 goals and six assists in 19 starts for the Gunners this season.
Giroud has already made a striking difference for an under-performing Arsenal side in 2012/13, with Arsene Wenger looking like he has unearthed another gem from Ligue 1.
Voted his country's sexiest footballer last year, the 26-year-old has established himself as something of a gay icon - as well as a fans' favourite at the Emirates - after posing topless for a mens magazine, in a bid to help tackle taboos on the terraces.
