AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri believes January signing Mario Balotelli will become one of the best players in the world.

Balotelli joined the Rossoneri from Manchester City and has made an instant impact at the San Siro, scoring three goals in two games.

Although Balotelli is cup tied for the Champions League last-16 tie with Barcelona next week, as he has already played in the competition for Manchetser City, Allegri believes that the Italian striker's main job will be to help ensure qualification for next year’s Champions League campaign with Milan currently sitting in fifth place in Serie A.

"I am satisfied with what Mario is giving us on the pitch. But, he has the possibility of becoming a world class player - if he devotes himself to football," Allegri told reporters.

"I hope he takes my advice.”

Allegri also had a response to reports that he could be set to lose his job in the summer.

"I have never had any doubts that I'll be here next season. I have an agreement with the president Adriano Galliani - this team has been rebuilt in a short space of time so we have to carry on with this project as it is,” he added.

Balotelli will likely start in Milan’s next league match against Parma on Friday as Allegri’s side look to drag themselves closer to the top three and Champions League qualification.

Milan have now gone five games without loss, although their previous fixture away at Cagliari was heading for defeat until a late Balotelli leveller.
