Former Manchester City defender, Danny Mills, believes that Roberto Mancini is under a serious amount of pressure and insists that his reign at Eastlands could soon come to an abrupt end.

Mancinci's men take on Leeds United in the FA Cup this weekend, and Mills feels that if City fail to beat Leeds, it could be the end for the Italian.

"Mancini is under pressure," the former England International told the BBC.

"It looks like they have blown their chances of retaining the title. You wonder what would happen if they went out of the FA Cup against Leeds. I think Roberto Mancini goes.

"If they go out of the FA Cup at this stage, I could see the owners making a decision sooner than that," Mills added.

With a 12-point gap to overcome if they are to retain their Premier League title, City have only the FA Cup to play for, but with many pundits and former players thinking the Premier League is the only trophy that could save Mancini from the axe, it seems inevitable that the Italian will be ousted from the role.

Mills, who made over 100 appearances for Leeds, and also played for City, said: "Manchester United's 12-point lead is too much. I think Mancini will go in the summer anyway if they don't win the league.

"There's a rumbling undercurrent of discontent at City. From the outside it all looks pretty and serene, but underneath there's a bubbling inferno ready to explode."

Mills also claims that with owners that spend so much on transfers whoever is in charge has to get results fast as they demand instant success.

"They have brought in Txiki Begiristain and the owners seem intent on creating this Barcelona model," Mills said.

"They want success and that means Mancini is under a fair bit of pressure, especially after they failed miserably in the Champions League."

If Mancini is to leave, who do you think should replace him at the helm?
