Barcelona star would welcome De Gea to Camp Nou
Manchester United transfer news: Barcelona defender Adriano would welcome David de Gea
Barcelona defender Adriano would back the club to pursue Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea in the transfer market, but admits the decision lies with the powers that be to make a formal approach.
De Gea has been linked with a transfer to Barcelona in recent weeks, and the young Spaniard's stock has risen since his starring display in Manchester United's midweek draw with Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The 22-year-old was in fine form amid a barrage from the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, and ensured Manchester United left Madrid on terms and with a potentially pivotal away goal.
Adriano, meanwhile, was impressed with what he saw from De Gea against Real Madrid and would welcome the idea of the Manchester United No.1 being signed as a long-term replacement to Victor Valdes.
"De Gea is a great goalkeeper but it's down to Zubi [Andoni Zubizarreta]," Adriano told Marca. "I personally really like him as a keeper.
"[Real Madrid v Manchester United] was a great game and the tie is very open. We now have to think about our own game [against AC Milan]. The match at Old Trafford should be a good one, too."
Adriano also outlined his desire to stay with Barcelona following links with Paris Saint-Germain, prompted by the summer arrival of Jordi Alba in Catalonia.
"I would like to stay at Barcelona for many years to come," the 28-year-old Brazilian added. "We have to reach an agreement. My decision is to stay, as I'm very happy here and so are my wife and children. That's what I told Zubi.
"I saw about an offer from PSG in the newspapers but I wasn't approached. It was just speculation. [Jordi] Alba and [Dani] Alves make it hard for me to get in the team.
"There's a lot of competition for places. We have to be at our best. When I get the chance to play I want to prove my worth."
