Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is the ‘front-runner’ to take charge at Roma.

The Daily Telegraph claims the Serie ‘A’ side is hoping to take advantage of the Italian’s uncertain future at the Etihad Stadium, and offer a £4.5 million-a-year contract to the under-pressure 48-year-old.

Mancini has rejected speculation that his time could be coming to an end with the Citizens, claiming he’s been the best manager in English football over the last 15 months.

However, failure in the Champions League group stage and a 12-point gap to Manchester United in the Premier League table has seen his position come under growing threat.

Zdenek Zeman was sacked in the Eternal City earlier this month, and veteran coach Aurelio Andreazzoli is currently in charge of first team matters until the end of the season.

General manager Franco Baldini is tasked with finding a high profile replacement at the Stadio Olimpico, and the Manchester City manager appears to be top of the list of candidates.

Mancini has previously worked at Fiorentina, Lazio and Inter Milan in his homeland, before taking the Citizens position back in 2009.
