Police FC up against it after Africa Confederation Cup defeat

Published Add your comment

Police FC started poorly on their debut in the 2013 Africa Confederation Cup campaign, losing 1-0 to hosts Lydia Ludic Academic of Burundi at the  Prince Louis Rwagasore stadium in Bujumbura.

The hosts secured the early goal in the first half and even though Police FC dominated the game and made several attempts to find the equaliser, it proved impossible as LLB Academic calmly defended their goal.

Police now face a huge hurdle in the second leg on March 2, and they must beat LLB to be assured of a place in the first round of a competition that has remained elusive for teams from their region.

The winner of the tie will play against Democratic Republic of Congo's DC Motema Pembe.

Elsewhere, two goals scored by Kipre Tchetche and one by Kassim Abdi were enough to earn Azam FC a 3-1 win over Al Nasir Juba of South Sudan on Saturday in Tanzania. In Nairobi, Gor Mahia were forced to a goalless draw by Anse Re-Union of Seychelles at the Nyayo National Stadium.
