Tottenham transfer target reveals he 'dreams' of move to Europe
Tottenham transfer news: Leandro Damiao admits he 'dreams' of playing in Europe one day
The Brazil international was the subject of a deadline day bid from Spurs in January, but the transfer broke down as time ran out.
Inter Milan have also been linked with a move for the 23-year-old forward - speculation that intensified following the season-ending injury suffered by Argentinian international and Inter Milan forward Diego Milito.
Tottenham have tried on several occasions to bring Damiao to the Premier League, but have so far failed to negotiate a path through his complex third-party contract.
But the north London club have been handed a boost, following Damiao's admission that he's still eager to play in Europe one day.
Speaking to Lancenet, Damiao said: "I have a very long contract here. I am tied to the club and I feel good in Brazil.
"But I dream of playing in Europe - it is the best stage for a footballer. I'd like to show off on another continent."
The Brazilian forward is expected to lead the line for his country at next year's World Cup on home soil, but it's unclear whether Damiao will look to leave Internacional before that competition.
He gave Spurs' fans a glimpse of his lethal finishing last summer, as he finished as the Olympics top scorer, picking up a silver medal in the process, following Brazil's 2-1 defeat to Mexico in the Olympic final at Wembley.
