As Arsenal prepare to face German giants Bayern Munich in tonight's Champions League last 16 tie, we take a look at some great Arsenal matches whilst competing in the tournament.
The London side are a well-established team in the competition and have had many mouthwatering ties in the past, but we set aside the five that will stay in the memory of Arsenal fans forever.
5. Villareal 0-0 Arsenal. (Arsenal won 1-0 on aggregate)
Back in 2006, Arsenal were not a team to be messed with and that saw them reach the Champions League semi-final where they faced Villarreal. The first-leg was held at Highbury and it saw Arsenal win 1-0 thanks to a Kolo Toure goal. The second-leg was the game to remember as Arsenal held Villarreal to a goaless draw in Spain thanks to the heroics of Jens Lehmann. Villarreal were awarded a penalty late on in the game, but the German stopper got down low to deny Juan Riquelme from the spot. This was a draw that saw the Gunners reach the Champions League final.
4. Arsenal 2-0 Juventus (Arsenal won 2-0 on aggregate)
In the same journey to the Champions League final, Arsenal had to overcome Italian giants, Juventus, and one night in Highbury saw them put on a superb display to see Juve off and take a 2-0 lead into the second leg. Goals from an up-and-coming, Cesc Fabregas and club legend, Thierry Henry, was enough for Arsenal to win the game and end up winning the tie after holding out for a 0-0 draw in Italy. It was a memorable night for the club and the fans as they saw Patrick Vieira's replacement, in Cesc Fabregas run the game and develop into a rising star.
3. Inter Milan 1-5 Arsenal
In 2003 Arsenal produced the performance of a lifetime to see off Inter Milan at the San Siro. Goals from; Freddie Ljungberg, Robert Pires, Edu and a brace from Thierry Henry capped off a superb night in Italy as Arsenal eased past Milan. It was a performance that left manager, Arsene Wenger, speechless as after the game he said the result was beyond his wildest dreams. That dream came true in Italy and it was a dream night for Arsenal Football Club and everyone involved.
2. Real Madrid 0-1 Arsenal
Once again we go back to the season of 2006 and the Champions League run that saw Arsenal go all the way to the final. This game saw Arsenal travel to Madrid. It was the night Thierry Henry lit up the Bernabeu stadium. No-one gave Arsenal a chance against 'The Galacticos', but a solo, superb goal from Henry gave Arsenal the dream result. A night that will never be forgotten amongst the Arsenal faithful.
1. Arsenal 2-1 Barcelona
It was the clash everyone wanted to see. The pass-masters of England against the pass-masters of Spain. Arsenal vs Barcelona. This result in 2011, was the biggest and best Champions League night for Arsenal. It's rare for Arsenal to be the underdogs in front of their own fans, but on this occasion they were. Barcelona were the best footballing side in the world and were beating everyone that got in their way, but at the Emirates, they were beaten by two moments of magic from Robin van Persie and Andrey Arshavin. After dominating the majority of the game, David Villa gave the Catalan side the lead, but a late second-half turn around saw Arsenal take the advantage going into the second-leg. It was an electric night at the Emirates and a Champions League night to savour.
Arsenal certainly have some great memories in the Champions League and maybe when they go up against Bayern Munich tonight, their new crop of players can produce another memorable match.
