Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur target Christian Benteke has been told he is too good for them and should be aiming for the top teams in the Premier League, such as Chelsea and Manchester City.

According to the Daily Star, both Arsene Wenger and Andre Villas-Boas are interested in making summer moves for him with both Arsenal and Spurs suffering shortages up front.

However, Benteke’s Aston Villa teammate Gabriel Agbonlahor feels the Belgium international can aim higher than the north London duo.

have both been linked Chelsea and Manchester City with moves for the 22-year-old in the past and Agbonlahor’s words suggest he thinks Benteke would be more suited to the big-spending pair.

Christian is one of the players of the season for me so far," Agbonlahor is quoted as saying in the Daily Star report.

"He's going to get linked with the top clubs, especially because of his age. He's young. He's gifted in what he can do so he's going to be linked with a lot of clubs.

"I think he's good enough for even higher than them (Arsenal and Tottenham).”

The report suggests if any of Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham or Manchester City want to land Benteke they will have to stump up a bid in the region of £16million.

Villa are currently embroiled in a relegation battle and would find it almost impossible to hold on to their star centre-forward were they to go down.
