Arsenal have highlighted the three players to splash the cash on in the summer in the hope of turning around the fortunes of Arsene Wenger’s side.
Borussia Dortmund playmaker Mario Götze, Fiorentina forward Stevan Jovetic and Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina are the priority for the Gunners, according to the Daily Mail.
Arsenal were outclassed by Bayern Munich at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday, which followed an embarrassing FA Cup fourth round exit to Blackburn Rovers at the same venue only four days prior.
It has led to unprecedented levels of doubt over Wenger’s future at the club, but he has reportedly still got full backing from Arsenal majority shareholder Stan Kroenke and the rest of the board.
The report claims Götze, Jovetic and Reina are seen as the ideal additions to return Arsenal to some of their former glories, although a defensive midfielder is also seen as a problem area that needs fixing.
The Gunners face another tense atmosphere on Saturday when struggling Aston Villa travel to north London in the Premier League.
Wenger’s men will be desperate to avoid a third defeat at home in a week as they must now concentrate on getting back into the top four, with their Champions League adventure for this season looking all but over.
