Gareth Bale has shown stunning form this season, netting 13 goals in 22 games in the Barclays Premier League and has impressing the likes of Ossie Ardiles.

The Tottenham winger recently scored two sublime free-kicks in order to achieve a home win of 2-1 against the French side Olympique Lyonnais, taking Bale's goal tally to six in the past four games. Spurs secured their progress to the next round of the Europa League  last night with a 1-1 draw against Remi Garde's side.

In light of his recent form the ex-Tottenham midfielder has compared Bale to Ronaldo. Ossie Ardiles has stated that the Welshman has what it takes to reach Ronaldo's level.

In a recent talkSPORT interview, the Argentine spoke to the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast about Bale's future.

"He is just wonderful and now even his free-kicks are absolutely wonderful. He's very close (to the world's best)."

"He is improving - every game he is getting better and better and better. He won't like the comparison but he is becoming the new Ronaldo"

With a return to Premier league action on Monday, Andre Villas-Boas will hope that Bale can perpetuate the form he has shown in recent weeks when they travel away to West Ham. Tottenham Hotspur have won their last two Premier League games and Villas-Boas will hope that Bale can help secure a third.

A win against Sam Allardyce's side will keep Tottenham ahead of rivals Arsenal, who are looking to obtain that all important fourth place in the Premier league standings in order to achieve Champions league qualification.

Do you think Bale has the potential to reach the level of the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo?
