Manchester United have always had some fantastic players in their squad, but it is hard to find someone in their current squad who is close to Robin Van Persie.
With 23 goals to his name already this season, it is easy to see why he consistently starts up front.
Without Van Persie, Manchester United would be in a mid-table position, and would only have approximately half of their 68 points.
Let's take Van Persie out of the team, the strikers would be Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez. These three players as a whole would only have 6 more goals than the Dutchman.
Their highest goalscorer would be Hernandez who very rarely starts for the champions elect. With Rooney sometimes being played in midfield, you would struggle to see where the goals would come from.
However, last season Manchester United didn't have Van Persie and still did fantastically well to keep up with their Manchester neighbours, but unfortunately for them couldn't get the title.
With Rooney playing a more prominent role last season, it was he who shined, and the same questions were asked about Manchester United and himself.
With a fair amount of quality in midfield as well, if Van Persie gets an injury, there is plenty of excellence to help any striker perform fantastically.
In conclusion, it would be fair to say that Manchester United have enough fire power in their squad to deal without Van Persie. With Welbeck coming through too, it wouldn't be a major problem without such a major name.
