The Champions League and Europa League have been hogging all the limelight of late, so it only seems right that the Premier League bursts back on the scene to take centre-stage.
Saturday bought with it a handful of engrossing games that moved the battles at the top and bottom of the table forward towards a thrilling climax, while Sunday was dominated by the clash at the Etihad Stadium between Manchester City and Chelsea.
With all that Premier League action it comes as no surprise that there were plenty of brilliant goals, and GMF is here as ever to pick out the best five.
Rafael, QPR v Manchester United
Rafael's not exactly known for his long-range missiles but that's exactly what he pulled off against Harry Redknapp's side to move the Red Devils one step closer to the Premier League title.
With usual goal scorer Robin van Persie marooned in an embrace with a cameraman (don't asked), Rafael stepped up and slammed a peach of a shot into the top corner past Julio Cesar. Watch here.
Pappis Demba Cisse, Newcastle v Southampton
With Demba Ba out of the way at Chelsea, Cisse has had all the space he requires to thrive in the Newcastle attack - and if he scores more like this it won't be long before he earns a place amongst the pantheon of Geordie striker greats.
A long free-kick is allowed to bounce by the Southampton defence and Cisse capitalised (so what if he was offside in the first place) by volleying home the most incredible shot you are ever likely to see. Watch here.
Dimitar Berbatov, Fulham v Stoke
Not exactly a fixture to set hearts racing, Fulham v Stoke was in fact a bit of a damp squib - except for one moment, and of course it was Berbatov at the heart of the action.
Never one to expend more energy than he has to, the laconic Bulgarian lashed a volley home from a tight angle to earn his side all three points. The former Manchester United man has lost none of his incredible technique. Watch here.
Carlos Tevez, Manchester City v Chelsea
Yaya Toure scored a pretty good goal of his own in Manchester City's win over Chelsea yesterday, but it can't quite compete with Tevez's brilliant strike.
Coming on to the ball with just five minutes of the game left, Tevez blasted it past Petr Cech in the Chelsea goal. A pure hit. Watch here.
Santi Cazorla, Arsenal v Aston Villa
Arsenal were in desperate need of a win against Aston Villa on Saturday, something they eventually got thanks to a sublime performance from Cazorla.
The former Malaga player bagged himself a brace but his second goal was something to behold.
Starting with a lovely ball from Jack Wilshere to Nacho Monreal, the Spaniard cut back delightfully for his countryman to run onto the ball and tuck it home. Three points in the bag and a relieved Arsene Wenger. A good day at the office. Watch here.
