Arsene Wenger is considering a £7.5million summer move for Eintracht Frankfurt star Sebastian Rode, according to The Sun.

The 22-year-old midfielder is widely regarded as one of the brightest young prospects in the Bundesliga at the moment, and has attracted interest from a host of Champions League clubs.

Arsenal will face competition from Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund for the Germany U21 international's signature, but have the advantage of being able to offer him the chance of playing Premier League football - something that Rode is reportedly keen to experience.

Wenger is keen to strengthen his midfield at the end of the season, and has set his sights on luring Rode to the Emirates Stadium.

With just 16 months remaining on his current contract, and no new deal having been agreed, Eintracht might be forced to sell Rode in the summer or else they risk losing him for nothing in 2014.

His arrival would represent a considerable transfer coup for Arsenal, who are yet to fill the void left by the departure of Alex Song to Barcelona last summer.

The Gunners boss has repeatedly raved about the Bundesliga being Europe's current hotbed of up-and-coming talent, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see the north London club entering the German market.
