Hamburg eager to agree permanent transfer for Chelsea starlet
Chelsea transfer news: Jeffrey Bruma a target for Hamburg
Hamburg are keen to sign on-loan Chelsea youngster Jeffrey Bruma on a permanent basis at the end of the season, but would be happy to take him on a temporary basis again, according to the London Evening Standard.
The 21-year-old centre-back is currently on loan with the German club from Chelsea, and Hamburg are eager to tie up another deal with the Blues.
Former-Chelsea director of football Frank Arnesen is now Hamburg's sporting director, and he's keen to sign Bruma up to another loan deal, or bring him in permanently if Chelsea are willing to sell.
Speaking to the Standard, Arnesen said: "Bruma has been playing very well, I like everything about him, he is composed, good in the air. All in all, I am very satisfied with his play.
"Chelsea have been keeping an eye on him but I don't know what they are thinking regarding his future," Arnesen continued. "In a couple of months we will have talks with them and see what happens.
"I would like to take him on loan again and if they want to sell him, we would be in the market, too. At the moment we don't have much money, but he has been with us since he was 19 and is progressing very well.
"We are satisfied with him and he is getting better and better. It will be good to have him for one more year. If we can do that I will be very happy.
"Of course it is great for him to be playing against players like Robert Lewandowski and Mario Gotze rather than in Chelsea's reserves. Last season, he played 23 or 24 games in the Bundesliga and it was a tougher challenge for him."
Arnesen brought Bruma to Chelsea from Feyenoord in a £100,000 deal in 2007. The Blues defender has since gone on to win Holland caps, and has starred for Hamburg for the past 18 months, but he's yet to make an impression at Stamford Bridge.
According to the report, Arnesen's relationship with Chelsea - he left the club at the end of the 2010-11 season - helped Hamburg to secure the initial loan deal for Bruma.
Arnesen has signed several young players from Stamford Bridge since moving to the German club, including Jacopo Sala, Michael Mancienne, Gokhan Tore and Slobodan Rajkovic.
