Spurs line up £30m move for Valencia striker
Tottenham Hotspur transfer news: Roberto Soldado linked with move from Valencia
Tottenham Hotspur are considering a summer move for £30m-rated Spanish international striker Roberto Soldado, according to reports in the Daily Express.
The 27-year-old frontman has 17 goals for Valencia this season and has caught the eye of Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas, who is looking to bolster his strikeforce for next season at White Hart Lane.
Tottenham missed out on Brazilian forward Leandro Damiao last summer, and with Jermain Defoe currently out injured and Emmanuel Adebayor struggling to find form, the north London outfit want a proven goalscorer for a potential Champions League campaign in 2013/14.
Soldado, a former Real Madrid youth prospect, has scored 70 goals across all competitions in his three seasons at the Mestalla and has notched four goals in nine appearances for Spain on the international stage.
Valencia, currently sat fifth in La Liga, may be forced to sell their star man to ease their economic problems. If Spurs were to capture Soldado, he would be the latest in a long line of high-profile departures from the Mestalla, following David Silva, David Villa and Juan Mata out the exit door.
