First Roberto Mancini, then Yaya Toure; City have reinforced their belief that they can still retain the Premier League title.

This is despite the gap between city rivals Manchester United, who are a comfortable 12 points ahead of City.

City showed confidence in their clinical 2-0 win over Chelsea on Sunday, with Toure scoring the opener.

However, the Ivorian did admit that City will need to win every one of the 11 remaining games if they stand a chance of catching United.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s will be determined not to let lightning strike twice after losing out on the title in the last minute of last season.

“For the football club and the fans, you can't give up now,” Toure told Sky Sports after the Chelsea victory.

"We have 11 games remaining and in sport you never know what can happen in the future.

“We have to keep on going and try and win all our games.”

City will need extra-special performances from their players for the rest of the season if they are to catch United.

Joe Hart produced an excellent penalty save from Frank Lampard at 0-0, and several other players, including Toure himself, played extremely well.

And while Sir Alex Ferguson won’t let his Manchester United side get complacent,City will hope the Reds will experience some slip-ups in their own run-in between now and the end of the campaign.
