Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that David Beckham will start in the Cup de France against Marseille on Wednesday night.

The former England captain made his debut on Sunday, coming off the bench to help PSG secure a 2-0 win over Marseille in Ligue 1.

Beckham, who played the last 15 minutes of the game, had just enough time to make an impact.

He played a one-two with Jeremy Menez, who set up Zlatan Ibrahimovic to kill the game off.

The former LA Galaxy man impressed on his debut, playing some superb passes,  showing just how much a threat his long balls can be on the counter attack.

Ancelotti said: "He will start tomorrow. Beckham can play the whole match.

"He will play defensive midfielder. He has the experience and skills to help us.

"It's an important position on the pitch, he has to help the team in building the game.

"As we already know, he also has quality for taking set-pieces."

Beckham, at the tender age of 37 will look to prove that he can play at the highest level. PSG are the latest top club to gain his services, in a career that has seen him play for top European clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid and AC Milan.

Ancelotti finished by saying: "I understand that there has been an infatuation with him, but above all I like the Beckham who is at the centre of training. He works, he is humble every day."

The game on Wednesday night, will see Beckham come up against fellow Englishman Joey Barton for the second time in a matter of days.
