Chelsea are through to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup after a battling win against out-of-form Middlesbrough at The Riverside stadium.

Goals from Ramires and Victor Moses saw Chelsea set up a tie with Manchester United in the next round where a victory will send them to Wembley.

Rafael Benitez made eight changes to his side, with only Petr Cech, Branislav Ivanovic and Ramires remaining from the side that faced Manchester City.

In came John Terry, Ryan Bertrand, Victor Moses, Oscar and Fernando Torres, in addition to Nathan Ake, Yossi Benayoun and Paulo Ferreira, who all made their first starts of the season.

The Blues were poor in the first half and failed to test Boro keeper Jason Steele. Middlesbrough were roared on by their fans but they too were poor in the final third and Cech was never under any real pressure.

After the break, Benayoun hooked the ball to Ramires, whose curling shot flicked in off Torres. The dubious goal panel may yet award the strike to the Spaniard, but for now at least the goal belongs to Ramires.

Shortly after, Eden Hazard entered the fray and a one-two between him and Oscar set up the second for Chelsea, and the Belgian slid the ball across the box delightfully for Moses to tap in his sixth goal of the campaign. It was a brilliant move from Chelsea.

The Championship side fought bravely and had a late resurgence but failed to get a consolation. It was a potential banana-skin but Chelsea made it through unscathed. They now turn their attention to West Brom's visit on Saturday and the fight for the top four.
