Scott Parker claims Gareth Bale's last minute strike against West Ham on Monday night will have deflated Arsenal ahead of Sunday's north London derby.

Spurs were behind at West Ham, till a late comeback saw them gain a crucial three points at Upton Park. Andre Villas Boas' side moved into third place in the Premier League and now hold a four-point gap over Arsenal.

Parker believes The Gunners will have been hit hard psychologically as they watched yet another super show from their bitter rivals.

The England international told The Sun: "I've been in that situation before and it's deflating.

"You're watching the scores flash up on the night and you see a goal from a match where your rivals are playing.

"You hope it's the opposition and then see it's the team that you didn't want to score. That's deflating.

"I'm sure the Arsenal players will have noted that, Arsenal are still a top, top Club but we have players in our squad that they would want any day of the week.

"When you have World class players they step up.

"Words can't describe how well Gareth is playing at the moment, he is scoring critical goals.

"We have closed the gap on Arsenal as a club we have been living in their shadow.

"But we are all aware of how hard we've had to work to get where we are and need to focus on staying there. If we win at White Hart Lane on Sunday we can push away from them a bit. But lose and the gap get's closed to just a point."

Parker also admitted that his team had not forgotten about  how The Gunners overtook them in the league last year.

He finished by saying: "Last season Arsenal clawed their way back against us, after a 10-point-lead, we haven't forgotten about that."

It looks likely that there will be another enthralling race for the final Champions League places and if Spurs can get one over on their neighbours this weekend, then they will be fully confident of finishing above them this time around.
