Manchester City have targeted Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala as a potential summer replacement for Joleon Lescott, who could leave the Etihad at the end of the season.
England international Lescott has been linked to a return to Everton this season, having found his first-team chances at City limited by the rise of Matija Nastasic, and the Daily Express has reported that £17million-rated Mangala could be bought to fill the void should Lescott depart Manchester.
22-year-old Mangala has attracted attention from Italian giants AC Milan, who sent a team to scout the French youth international during Porto's 1-0 Champions League win over Malaga, according to Corriere dello Sport. The Italian paper also reported that Manchester City's sporting director Txiki Begiristain had added Mangala to his summer shortlist.
Mangala arrived at the Estadio do Dragao for €6.5m in 2011, and his performances at the heart of the Porto defence have brought attracted interest from abroad.
Mangala has been a mainstay in a Porto side that have conceded just 10 goals in 20 league matches this season and currently sit undefeated at the top of the Liga Sagres.
