Pablo Sabbag, the agent of Roma midfielder Erik Lamela, has rubbished reports that Manchester United have tabled a big money offer for the Argentinean star.
Lamela has been plunged into the spotlight after some impressive displays for the Italian giants this season, however Sabbag has dismissed reports linking him with a move away from the Stadio Olimpico.
Sabbag told reporters: "No, there is no truth in that at all.
"At the moment there is no official offer from Manchester United for Lamela.
"Obviously I have a relationship with them, but we have never discussed this particular topic. It's the same with Roma, a club I have a continuous relationship with.
"It's just too soon to be talking about the transfer market."
Lamela joined Roma from Riverplate in August 2011, and has been a key man for the Italians over the past couple of seasons.
If The Red Devils are interested in the player, then Sir Alex Ferguson may see Lamela as a potential replacement for Paul Scholes, who is reaching the end of his career.
Speculation of Lamela moving to the Premier League leaders may continue long into the summer.
However, Ferguson’s focus for now will be on the visit of Norwich City to Old Trafford this weekend as United look to gain a 15 point advantage over Manchester City, who travel to a struggling Aston Villa side on Monday night.
