Arsenal & Barcelona go head-to-head over 'next David Silva'
Arsenal & Barcelona transfer news: UAE international Omar Abdulrahman at the centre of a transfer tussle
Arsenal and Barcelona are both monitoring United Arab Emirates international Omar Abdulrahman ahead of a potential summer move, according to reports.
Barcelona were first alerted to the player when UAE featured in the London Olympics last summer, and are rumoured to be preparing a bid to take the 21-year-old playmaker to the Nou Camp.
Abdulrahman, who has been likened to Manchester City's creative midfielder David Silva, has impressed Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, and the French tactician has joined the race for his signature.
Abdulrahman currently plays for Al Ain and has been watched several times by Arsenal's scouts since the Olympics.
He's not short of potential suitors, however, with Borussia Dortmund, Schalke, Hamburg and Malaga all interested in the UAE star.
Malaga see Abdulrahman as a ready-made replacement for Isco, who looks set to leave the Spanish outfit this summer.
Abdulrahman's representatives have had several meetings with potential suitors in recent months, as a move in the summer transfer window looks increasingly likely.
