Real Madrid wrapped up their second victory over Barcelona in the space of five days with a 2-1 victory over the Catalans at the Bernabeu on Saturday afternoon.
Karim Benzema edged Madrid in front after just five minutes, before Leo Messi equalised ten minutes later.
But Jose Mourinho’s side secured another morale-boosting victory over their closest rivals when Sergio Ramos headed in a Luka Modric corner on 81 minutes.
Cristiano Ronaldo dropped to the bench – with one eye on their Champions League last-16 fixture against Manchester United on Tuesday evening – but he joined the party with half an hour to play.

The three points cuts Barcelona’s lead over third-placed Madrid to 13 points, but in truth, Jose Mourinho will have his eye on the Champions League.
Barcelona keeper Victor Valdes was sent off after the final whistle after his protests at the referee’s decision to wave away a late penalty appeal carried on a little too long.
